Poet's House: Getting Started

Come join Jones Lecturer Keith Ekiss at Poet’s House this fall, a writing studio for all poets--beginning, experienced, or anywhere in between. We’ll write from prompts, meet fellow poets, and talk poetry.

LET'S GET IT STARTED: For our first session, we’ll talk about how poems get started. What inspires a poet to write and how do we confront the perfect field of the blank page? We’ll practice different ways of taking the first step, proceeding through memory, praise, and isolating moments that we want to explore. You’ll leave with the start of new poems and lots of ideas for future writing.
