The Creative Writing Program is pleased to announce a reading with Stegner Fellows in Poetry and Fiction: Hua Xi and Emma Binder.

Hua Xi is a writer and artist. Their poems have appeared in The New Republic, The Nation, The Atlantic, and elsewhere. They recently received the Eavan Boland Emerging Poet Prize, and have also been supported by an NEA Fellowship. They are currently working on a first manuscript of poems.

Emma Binder is a writer from Wisconsin and a 2023 – 2025 Wallace Stegner Fellow in fiction at Stanford University. They received their MFA in Fiction from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and were previously a Hoffman-Halls Emerging Artist Fellow at the Wisconsin Institute for Creative Writing. They have received the Indiana Review Fiction Prize, the Gulf Coast Prize in Fiction, and the Tupelo Press Snowbound Chapbook Award. Their work has appeared or is forthcoming in The Kenyon Review, Gulf Coast, The Indiana Review, Pleiades, Narrative, The Texas Review, DIAGRAM, and elsewhere. They’re currently working on a collection of short stories about queerness, rural life, and survival.
