Poet's House: Poetry & Portraiture

This Winter, please join Jones Lecturer Keith Ekiss for Poet's House, a writing studio for beginning and experienced poets. We'll write from prompts, meet fellow poets, and talk poetry.

As readers, we love characters who come alive quickly on the page. Like fiction writers, poets can create complex, memorable characters caught in moments of crisis. In the second Poet’s House of the quarter, we’ll read poems where the poetic sketch suggests volumes. We’ll also consider what these portraits say about their narrators, their own predilections and desires. We’ll write portraits of others, then turn the gaze on ourselves for self-portraits.
