Poet's House: Poetry for Novelists

We often figure poetry and storytelling as opposites: combative siblings with opposing world-views. But, there is often lyricism in storytelling and storytelling in poetry. In our first session of Poet's House this quarter, we'll read and write narrative poems and practice dramatic monologues that get us into character. What happens when an expansive story meets the compressed space of a poem? How do you create narrative voice on the page? Stop by and leave with the start of 2-3 new poems.
