Poet's House: Poetry & Magic

Join Jones Lecturer Keith Ekiss at POET'S HOUSE this Autumn, a writing studio for all poets--beginning, experienced, or anywhere in between. We’ll write from prompts, meet fellow poets, and talk poetry.

When you read a poem, what happens? Can you write a poem to direct change in the world? To heal or harm someone? In this Poet's House, we'll read both classic and contemporary poems to sample from the lineage of cures and curses, conjurations, and supernatural encounters. Then, we'll try our own hand at these ancient forms, looking for the persistence of magic in everyday life. We'll practice bibliomancy (divination by book) and write our own futures.
