Poet's House: Poetry & Lists

Join Jones Lecturer Keith Ekiss at POET'S HOUSE this Winter, a writing studio for all poets--beginning, experienced, or anywhere in between. We’ll write from prompts, meet fellow poets, and talk poetry.

The list, or catalog poem, is a basic unit of poetry. Here, a writer takes inventory of things that matter: the primacy of place, the multiplying beauty or terror of the world, the people we love. In our first session of Poet's House this quarter, we'll read list poems by Ari Banias, Christopher Smart, Joy Harjo, Walt Whitman and others then practice the simple, incantatory power of enumeration. Stop by and leave with the start of 2-3 new poems.
