Join Jones Lecturer Keith Ekiss at POET'S HOUSE this Winter, a writing studio for all poets--beginning, experienced, or anywhere in between. We’ll write from prompts, meet fellow poets, and talk poetry.
What makes a poem intense? Does intensity depend on subject matter alone (fraught love, for example) or do other factors play a part? Why do some poems seem to shout from the silence of the page while others smolder? In our last session of Poet's House this quarter, we'll delve into the intensity of poems by Richard Siken, Ocean Voung, June Jordan and others where private confession turns to public fury, then we'll practice turning up the heat on our own writing.
Stop by and leave with the start of 2-3 new poems.
